On the road to Chiang Mai, Thailand, Friday, June 3

After graduation's over at Keith's school, we begin our drive to the northern Thailand city of Chiang Mai.  It starts to rain and rains most of the way.

Dinner at the food court at a "Big C" store

Deb's phad Thai, with fish sauce on the side.

Blizzard at Dairy Queen!  You can have any flavor, as long as it's vanilla or chocolate.

We spend the night in Kamphaeng Phet (pronounced 'pet'), and go to a local bar.  We are the only Western tourists and part of the attraction since Keith speaks Thai.

The bar has a Western/American Indian theme and the band plays and sings Thai country.  Keith, Jim and I mention to each other that we wish they'd play an Eagles tune, given the name of the bar.  And in a while they do--  Hotel California, in English.  We sing the chorus along with most of the room.

Keith makes friends everywhere he goes.  This group was at the table next to ours.

Saturday morning: View from our hotel room.  See the 7-11 store at the end of the street?  We go in there to get road-snacks for Saturday's all-day drive ahead of us.
