After graduation's over at Keith's school, we begin our drive to the northern Thailand city of Chiang Mai. It starts to rain and rains most of the way.

| We spend the night in Kamphaeng Phet (pronounced 'pet'), and go to a local bar. We are the only Western tourists and part of the attraction since Keith speaks Thai. |

| The bar has a Western/American Indian theme and the band plays and sings Thai country. Keith, Jim and I mention to each other that we wish they'd play an Eagles tune, given the name of the bar. And in a while they do-- Hotel California, in English. We sing the chorus along with most of the room. |

| Keith makes friends everywhere he goes. This group was at the table next to ours. |

| Saturday morning: View from our hotel room. See the 7-11 store at the end of the street? We go in there to get road-snacks for Saturday's all-day drive ahead of us. |
