Bangkok Day 3, Grand Palace

Hot.  Really, really hot.  But beautiful.  Grand Palace and then the largest reclining Buddha make the day special.

Sun tip for myself: Put on sunblock; carry umbrella, every single day when in Thailand.

Taxi knowledge: Not every taxi wants to leave its neighborhood.  Both going and returning from our outing we had to ask a couple drivers before finding one willing to take a 45-minute fare.
If in a hurry, ask specifically that the driver take the expressway and show the money for tolls, or you'll get the local-road version, which is ok, too, but slower and looks sometimes like padding the fare.
Always verify that the taxi is metered, before getting in.  (This tip from TripAdvisor site.  A big mahalo--saved us a bundle.)

Some taxis tell you exactly where they'll go, and what not to do while they're driving you there.
