Manila

Feeling loopy after 10 hour plane trip, but the taxi ride to our hotel kept me alert.  Manila traffic is all about close encounters of the car kind.  Dense.  Intense.  Beep-beep and you know that another vehicle is bearing down or about to blow a kiss to your side mirror.  There were constant beep-beeps.  Printed onto the trunk of one taxi that was in front of us: "How's my driving?"

Big tip for long plane rides: compression hose.  A big mahalo to Mary's friend Jeanine who turned me on to them.  No ankle swelling!

Did you know that most of the roofs in Manila are red?  Seen from the plane.

Jim and I strolled around this evening after a run on the treadmills in the hotel.  Found this lovely and well-lighted park with lots of families playing, just a block from our hotel in the dense financial district of Makati.
